From the wellness field to the paper industry
Joonas Jaatinen’s role at Jujo can be described as a link between the sales department and production. He is responsible for production planning and scheduling, with the goal of ensuring smooth and efficient operations. "In production planning, we focus on cost-effective solutions and meeting customer needs," Joonas explains.
Joonas is a third-generation Jujo employee and began working at Jujo as a summer worker at the age of 14. "It all started with summer jobs, and I’ve been working here in some capacity ever since."
"I joined the army in 2008 and served as a medic," Joonas shares. "My role in the army sparked my interest in the wellness field, and after the army, I studied in Tampere to become a sports massage therapist and personal trainer, graduating in 2010. I also pursued four years of studies in naprapathy at Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences."
With these qualifications, Joonas founded a company that employed him for several years. "I had my own business and a naprapathy clinic, but I soon felt the pull back to the factory, where both my father and grandfather had worked."
He returned to the factory, working in production as a packer and material handler. After learning about adult education support, Joonas decided to take a leap in his career while continuing to work at the factory. "I completed a degree in international trade in Turku, which partially prepared me for my current role here at Jujo. The education, combined with solid hands-on experience in production, gave me a strong foundation for my work."
Today, Joonas’s duties include production planning and scheduling. "I design cost-effective production schedules, taking customer needs into account. I work closely with the market coordinators and production teams to ensure that orders are completed on time and efficiently."
"The education, combined with solid hands-on experience in production, gave me a strong foundation for my work.”
A typical workday begins with checking emails and making sure all products have been manufactured on schedule. "In the mornings, I attend several meetings, such as production, quality, and sales meetings. In the afternoons, I focus on reviewing order lists and creating new production schedules."
Joonas dreams of working abroad. "I’d like to work in a foreign culture with my family someday. I also dream of expanding my own beekeeping business."
Joonas has seen significant changes in the paper industry over the years. "Digitalization and changes in legislation have impacted the industry. Workplace safety and environmental friendliness have also become important themes."
In his free time, Joonas spends time with his family, enjoys beekeeping, and being outdoors. "I’m also passionate about music and play several instruments in a rock band with my twin brother. Physical activity is also a big part of my life—I do CrossFit and swim, among other things. Exercise and being in nature are probably the things that help me manage daily life and release energy."
Joonas believes that a solution-oriented approach, organization, and strong communications skills are important qualities in his job. "My ability to plan and manage processes comprehensively has been a strength that has helped me advance in my career at Jujo."
